We set off for Africa after leaving southern Spain
Morocco’s a place not easy to explain
Jon Pace came to visit, he’s our first and our last
The two weeks together went by way too fast
After arriving in Tangier we killed time on the beach
Marrakech to be the next destination to reach
We took an overnight train which was really relaxing
And arrived the next morning to a town far more taxing
Monkeys, snake charmers, juices and leather
Beggars, merchants and really hot weather
Scarves, purses, tajines and rugs
Lovely Riads but watch out for bed bugs
The medina itself is a lot to take in
Not buying as a foreigner is an original sin
You can’t leave without seeing the medina at night
Thousands of people- a remarkable sight
But the city was a bit to much for us three
So after two days we decided to flee
Hiking and nature were much more our speed
The High Atlas Mountains is just what we need
Mountainside villages made for a picturesque view
With numerous trails and hiking to do
The town is small without many roads
With mules and donkeys carrying large loads
We stayed in a guesthouse which was cheap yet cozy
And met two fine Brits called Freddie and Rosie
The town of Imlil was a great place to be
But we had to continue our Moroccan journey
We set off for Fes to spend a few days
Walking through streets that are more like a maze
Talking politics and life over cafe and tea
It was really special to be traveling as three
Eating couscous and tajines for every meal
Cities in Morocco have a unique appeal
But after ten days, we were ready to part
We’ll forever hold Morocco close to our heart
